Join Social Walks for an epic overnight camping adventure combining a premium campground stay in Taggerty with two iconic hikes across the Eildon region and Cathedral Ranges.
This two-day camping trip delivers rugged ridgelines, sweeping lookouts, deep forest trails, and a proper sense of adventure. Day one features an incredible hike in Eildon with epic views over Lake Eildon, while day two tackles one of Victoriaβs most challenging and rewarding hikes in the Cathedral Ranges.
Expect big views, tough climbs, strong social vibes at camp, and a weekend that feels like a true outdoor expedition.
Numbers are strictly capped for this event due to the technical nature of the hikes.
EVENT DETAILS π
ποΈ Date: Saturday 28 March β Sunday 29 March
π Start: Arrive from 12:00pm Saturday (check-in by 12:30pm sharp)
π Finish: Around 6:00pm Sunday (return to Melbourne, allow for later arrival)

π Please note: There is no public transport to the campground or local area. You will need your own vehicle or to arrange a carpool through our Facebook Group.

ABOUT THE CAMPSITE ποΈ
Weβll be staying at a premium campground at BIG4 Taggerty, selected for comfort, facilities, and proximity to both hiking locations.
Campsite facilities include:

THE HIKES π₯Ύ
Day 1 β Saturday Afternoon
Foggs Lookout & Mount Pininger Hike (Eildon)
- Distance: approx. 7km return
- Difficulty: Moderate to hard
- Highlights: Panoramic views over Lake Eildon, ridgelines, forest trails and sustained climbs
This hike delivers huge views early in the weekend and sets the tone for the adventure ahead.
Day 2 β Sunday
Cathedral Range Northern Circuit (early start)
- Distance: approx. 10km loop
- Difficulty: Hard β very challenging
- Terrain: Narrow ridgelines, ladders, exposed sections, rock scrambling, sustained climbs
This is one of Victoriaβs most demanding and iconic hikes.
IMPORTANT FITNESS & SAFETY NOTE β οΈ
This hike requires a good level of fitness, confidence on exposed and uneven terrain, and the ability to manage sustained climbs, ladders, and rock scrambling. Participants must be comfortable hiking for several hours in rugged alpine conditions.
Appropriate gear is essential, including sturdy hiking boots with strong grip, adequate water, weather protection, and sufficient food and energy supplies.
Due to the technical nature and physical demands of this hike, group numbers are strictly capped at 15 participants, with two experienced Social Walks guides leading the group to ensure safety, support, and proper pacing throughout the day.

- Saturday afternoon: Camp cooking, social time and relaxed campground vibes
- Sunday morning: Early start, camp cooking breakfast, pack up campsite.
- Sunday afternoon: Begin the return journey home to Melbourne and stop by the famouse Black Spur Inn for a drink and pub feed (Pay your own way).
